Pretty disappointed after we thought we'd booked a nice boutique hotel. The building is beautiful from the outside and likewise the gardens are lovely. The bedrooms and much of the interior desperately needs updating. Feels like little has changed since the early 2000s and little maintenance has been done since to keep it looking fresh. The dinner and lunch food served in the restaurant looked good from what we saw. We didn't eat either but to get to our rooms we had to pass through the restaurant, which made it awkward as we checked in and had to drag our suitcases between patrons at their tables eating. The breakfast was terrible. A shame overall as we were really looking forward to staying here on a weekend away but it really was very overpriced for what it was.
Perfect stay for one night. Room is extremely clean .we stayed at the ground floor so have access to the balcony can walk directly to the garden. Breakfast is simple but everything taste good. It helped our jet lag as we have bathtub so took a nice bath before sleep. Everything is just great , highly recommended!
Fantastic, friendly staff (even at check in at 2 am). However, the rooms and staircase are massively outdated and have some improvised repairs - maybe the ones in the main building are modernized but the one we stayed in (family suite on the second floor without an elevator) was dark and sub par. The breakfast was an unpleasant surprise (old fruits etc) which could really be done better. All in it seems like the place needs a massive makeover (but should keep the super friendly staff) to justify the prices.
The hotel is old, and needs an urgent refurbishment.
The room:
The heat is extreme, there is no AC, no Fan, and you can't close the curtains properly
The windows are falling apart, expect some piece of wood to fall in the room anytime you open or close the windows. The sound is vivid even when the windows are closed.
The bathroom:
Shower water pressure is very low, there is no cold water in the sink, only hot and burning hot.
The door to the bathroom doesn't close properly
The WC barely flushes
The common areas.
The stairs are slippery, especially in heels. The emergency exit opened by themselves even with little breeze.
The restaurant.
The breakfast has a very poor variety, and the food is tasteless.
The restaurant served us an almost raw chicken.
Bottom line, the hotel needs refurbishment, staffing, and training. Currently it looks more like a 2 stars hotel
Very pleasant place, very friendly, very good service from the team to meet my organizational needs.
The communication was exemplary for the preparation (thank you Nathalie).
The cocktail and the meal went very well.
All my colleagues as well my guests were delighted.
Rooms were average quality but small (I had a basic double), you have to pay extra to access the spa facilities, the garden however is gorgeous and perfect to relax in and there was very helpful, friendly staff both day and night.
Laval itself is gorgeous and the hotel was within walking distance to the bars and shops.
We had a group meal at the hotel, very slow service with people finishing before others had even been served (despite a limited three option menu), food was ok but not worth the €98pp for three courses in my opinion. Breakfast options were very limited so some of us ate elsewhere.
Gorgeous hôtel, fabulous food in a classy restaurant and first class service. What more could you ask for. I can't wait to visit again. Highly recommended.
We had a wonderful stay and our only regret was that we had to shorten it due to the rail strike. The room was very comfortable and the breakfast food delicious. The staff was very nice and helpful but at times it felt like there was not enough to them to deal with the many hotel guests and demanding groups.
